Types of Furnaces We Install

At Air Inc. Heating & Air Conditioning, we offer a variety of high-quality furnace systems to accommodate your needs, preferences, and budget. Below are some common types of furnaces we install:

Natural Gas Furnaces

Natural gas furnaces are popular for their affordability, efficiency, and ability to provide reliable heating with lower fuel operating costs.

Oil Furnaces

Oil furnaces are common in rural areas without natural gas lines. They provide faster heating than gas systems, but also require regular fuel deliveries and on-site storage.

Electric Furnaces

Electric furnaces are long-lasting, less expensive to install, and safer than gas models, although they typically have higher operating costs.

Dual-Fuel Systems

Dual-fuel systems combine an electric heat pump with a gas furnace and automatically switch to gas during extreme cold, making them a great option for efficient, year-round heating.

Choosing the Right Furnace for Your Home

Wondering what type of furnace is best for your home? Here are some key factors to consider:

  • Fuel type. Natural gas is usually the most cost-effective fuel, while oil and electric furnaces can be a good option for homes without gas access.
  • Energy efficiency. Modern furnaces with high AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) ratings are often a great choice for long-term energy savings.
  • Home size and insulation. We can make sure your furnace is properly sized and installed to prevent insufficient heating, frequent cycling, and energy waste.

What Furnace Size Do I Need?

A correctly sized furnace is a must to enjoy even and efficient heating. An undersized furnace may struggle to provide adequate heat, while an oversized furnace can lead to increased energy costs. In Connecticut, most homes need 50-60 BTUs per square foot.

Our team conducts comprehensive load calculations to determine the best furnace size for your home. We can evaluate square footage, layout, insulation, and usage patterns to recommend a furnace that delivers consistent comfort without wasting energy.

How Long Does a Furnace Last?

A well-maintained furnace can last 15-20 years with proper TLC. If your furnace is more than 15 years old, constantly breaks down, or struggles to provide consistent heat, it might be more cost-effective to replace your system altogether. We offer a broad selection of reliable furnace options to guide you toward an informed investment.

Can a New Furnace Lower My Heating Bills?

Absolutely. Upgrading to a modern, energy-efficient furnace can significantly reduce your monthly heating costs. Older furnaces often operate at around 70–75% efficiency and waste up to 25% of fuel, while new ENERGY STAR®–rated models can reach 95% efficiency or higher, resulting in less fuel and more savings on energy bills.

At Air Inc. Heating & Air Conditioning, we help homeowners choose and install high-efficiency furnaces to improve comfort and reduce waste. Our experts can assess your long-term energy goals to recommend a suitable upgrade for your household. As a Carrier® Certified Factory Authorized Dealer and Mitsubishi Electric® Diamond Contractor™, we install top-tier products from trusted brands that are built to last.

  • With a multi-zone ductless heat pump, you can connect multiple indoor air handlers—often up to eight—to heat and cool different rooms independently.

  • A ductless heat pump works by moving heat, not creating it. In the summer, it pulls heat out of your home to keep you cool. In the winter, it extracts heat from the outdoor air—even when it’s cold—and brings it inside. Each indoor unit controls the temperature of its own room, providing efficient, quiet comfort without ductwork.

  • You should never have to add refrigerant (Freon) to your central air conditioning system, unless there is a leak in the system.

If your system has a leak, a service technician should never be "topping it off" with refrigerant. The system needs to be leak tested and the leak needs to be repaired.

A refrigerant leak WILL harm the compressor, cause the system to draw more electricity, provide inadequate cooling and/or heating if it is a heat pump.

Many refrigerants are being banned due to the ozone depleting chemicals. That is another reason that ALL refrigerant leaks need to be repaired and not topped off with more refrigerant.

Refrigerant repairs on older central air conditioning systems can get costly, so you may be better off replacing your system.

  • YES THEY DO!

Years ago heat pumps only worked well in warmer climates, such as Florida or the Southern California.

New technology has made heat pumps one of the most efficient source to heat and cool your home anywhere in the United States.

Heat Pumps are being installed in many homes all over Connecticut, Maine, Mass, Vermont and Rhode Island.

ALL of the home owners are writing rave reviews about their energy savings and comfort they are getting from their new heat pump systems.
