Duct Sealing & Repair in New Haven, New London, and Fairfield Counties

Duct problems could be to blame for your stuffy rooms & high utility bills

Do you find it difficult to keep your home comfortable? Are your utility costs higher than they should be? In a typical house, about 20 to 30 percent of the air that moves through the ductwork system escapes through leaks, holes, and poorly connected ducts. Sealing ducts can make your home more comfortable, energy-efficient, and safer, as well as improve air quality.

As a professional heating and cooling contractor, we also inspect, repair, and seal ducts. To request your inspection and free estimate in North Haven, Branford, Guilford, and nearby, call us at (203) 871-0801 or fill out the online contact form.

  • Straighten flexible ducts that are tangled or crushed

Problems caused by poor duct performance

In houses with forced-air heating and cooling systems, ducts are used to distribute conditioned air throughout the house. Leaky or poorly insulated ducts can result in a variety of problems:

Metal tape or mastic sealant are common techniques for sealing air leaks to improve duct performance.

  • Comfort: Leaking supply ducts let out air you've paid to heat or cool before it even gets into your home. Leaky return ducts allow unconditioned air from your attic, basement, or crawl space to leak back into your system. In both cases, the air that reaches your living space isn't as conditioned as it's supposed to be, so your comfort is compromised.
  • Energy efficiency: If conditioned air leaks out before it gets to your living space, obviously you're not getting what you paid for. If unconditioned air leaks into your system, it takes more energy (and money) to condition it before it reaches your living space. Basically, you could be cooling or heating the great outdoors without even realizing it!

  • With a multi-zone ductless heat pump, you can connect multiple indoor air handlers—often up to eight—to heat and cool different rooms independently.

  • A ductless heat pump works by moving heat, not creating it. In the summer, it pulls heat out of your home to keep you cool. In the winter, it extracts heat from the outdoor air—even when it’s cold—and brings it inside. Each indoor unit controls the temperature of its own room, providing efficient, quiet comfort without ductwork.

  • You should never have to add refrigerant (Freon) to your central air conditioning system, unless there is a leak in the system.

If your system has a leak, a service technician should never be "topping it off" with refrigerant. The system needs to be leak tested and the leak needs to be repaired.

A refrigerant leak WILL harm the compressor, cause the system to draw more electricity, provide inadequate cooling and/or heating if it is a heat pump.

Many refrigerants are being banned due to the ozone depleting chemicals. That is another reason that ALL refrigerant leaks need to be repaired and not topped off with more refrigerant.

Refrigerant repairs on older central air conditioning systems can get costly, so you may be better off replacing your system.

  • YES THEY DO!

Years ago heat pumps only worked well in warmer climates, such as Florida or the Southern California.

New technology has made heat pumps one of the most efficient source to heat and cool your home anywhere in the United States.

Heat Pumps are being installed in many homes all over Connecticut, Maine, Mass, Vermont and Rhode Island.

ALL of the home owners are writing rave reviews about their energy savings and comfort they are getting from their new heat pump systems.
